Paladin firearm books make the "good" list of training aids

Our friend and neighbor Michael Bane of Down Range TV has put up a thought-provoking podcast about "the good, the bad, and the ugly" of firearm training in response to some recent Internet chatter on the subject. As an adjunct to the hour-long segment, he lists a dozen books he recommends to get you started down the right road to effective training. Michael includes three of the best Paladin titles on his list:

Street Smarts, Firearms, and Personal Security by Jim Grover, aka Kelly McCann

Defensive Shooting for Real-Life Encounters: A Critical Look at Current Training Methods by Ralph Mroz

More Tactical Reality: Why There's No Such Thing as an "Advanced" Gunfight by Louis Awerbuck

Michael's always entertaining and informative blog recently spotlighted this thoughtful article, "An Alternate Look at Handgun Stopping Power." If you've followed Evan Marshall and Ed Sanow's studies in this field, you will get a lot out of Ohio police officer Greg Ellifritz's findings. But similar to Marshall and Sanow, Mr. Ellifritz concludes: "No matter which gun you choose, pick one that is reliable and train with it until you can get fast, accurate hits. Nothing beyond that really matters!"
